Ko Uchi Gake

Ko-uchi-gake - Minor Inner Hook

1. Our first version of Ko-uchi-gake is basically the hooking version of Ko-uchi-gari. As with Ko-soto-gake, your toes need to be pointed - creating a 'hook' with your heel and ankle which you then hook around your partners ankle dragging forward for a banana-skin effect.
Your hands are important with this technique as your hiki-te needs to be pulling downwards whilst your tsuri-te needs to be directing your partners balance correctly.

2. As with ko-soto-gake, this technique can also be executed with a more wrap-around of the leg, as shown in the below video:

Ko-uchi-gake can also be referred to as ko-uchi-makikomi (minor inner winding technique), ko-uchi-gake-mata-makikomi (minor inner hook thigh winding technique), sutemi-ko-uchi (sacrifice minor inner) and ko-uchi-otoshi (minor inner drop).
